OP, we pretty much all have a sibling, cousin, or friend who is like this. It is common. Yes you secretely judge, but outwardly MYOB. Nothing you can do or should do.

“Mom, you should see the car Midge and Bob just leased. Looks like they will be the ones picking up the check at dinner from now on.”

“Nice car, Midge. It must feel so good to be able to take care of big purchases like that on your own. Builds a wonderful sense of pride.”

Wallow in these, OP. And then say nothing.

Do you live near your parents? You could sign up for a Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University class and invite them to join you. Attending that might open their eyes to the path to nowhere that your sibling is on.

People like you are why there is so much tension in extended families. You predict a problem and then predict an outcome both options featuring the worst of them. Nice. Even if you end up being correct why is this something you are involved in again???

The payment is easily $1,000 per month. I am fairly certain they did this because they’re going to pay the first few months and then cry poor to my parents, and hustle them into paying the note to protect their credit scores. How would you handle this? My parents admire how frugal and responsible my husband and I live, but will then turn around and cover my sister. I mean, should we go lease Range Rovers too? It’s shameful.
