They’re tired of losing kids to other clubs, although this isn’t the way to retain them.
This probably plays into it, but I don't have the sense that many boys leave until U15, when there is apparently a major drop in the quality of coaching and in general organization. We were told that they were trying to fix the high school age groups, but some parents and kids we know at that level have said nothing has changed. Overall we have been happy with the younger age groups, and we hear great things about U13/14. I don't look forward to a longer commute for another club by 8th or 9th grade.
I don't know anything about the girls' side so can't comment.
Most of the really good boys in our age group left before U15.
Where do they go in general?

Anonymous wrote:Most other clubs are the second week in May. Guess they want to pressure current players not to shop around? What do Stoddert parents think of the early tryouts and how are you interpreting the early tryout dates?

You don’t have to turn in the contract for many weeks, right? Aren’t they doing you a favor?
On the downside they are freeing up other kids to try out for the Stoddert teams...
Most clubs aren't waiting weeks for a decision. I think the average response time is about 72 hours from when an offer is made.
Yes. And everyone has them early every passing year. Messes up the entire spring season with clubs knowing kids won’t be returning, etc. kids getting cut but still having 7 games left in a season and a Memorial Day tournament.
All Clubs should be mandated not to have them until first week of June.
This would be much better. All tryouts should come after the season is complete or 1 or 2 weeks left. Definitely after Memorial Day Tournament.
