Mine can't stop growing. And I have a lot of shade. I keep needing to split them up as they get too large clumps. Doing that this week as they are still mostly shoots.

I move mine in late winter-early spring here. They're much easier to move when they're dormant or just shoots.

I have a hosta that I realize I need to move. It just doesn't grow as well as the others - it's in full shade and I think it needs some more sun.
When is a good time to move hostas? When the shoots are coming up or after they have stopped growing? Also, any recommendations for full-shade hostas? Bonus if they are slug resistant!

Are slugs getting to yours, OP? When you say “get them to grow,” can you be more specific about the problem you are experiencing?
This is a baffling question, OP. There could be no easier plant.

I can't keep my hostas from growing! We are in the middle of DC so no deer, and no matter what I do to them, they thrive. We had our whole yard dug up for a pipe replacement and the hostas came back beautifully.

Make sure they’re in the correct light condition for whatever kind of hosta you have. Most of them seem to like partial shade. Other than that, they couldn’t be easier. Plant and forget them.
