It formed a small swollen area bubble behind her ear hole which became hot to touch. She wouldn't let me near it. The doctor took one look at it and decided it needed to be lanced. Which is when they take a needle and push the pus/infection out. I asked if she could numb the area but she said the needle from the numbing needle would hurt her even more. Upon hearing the word needle my DD understandably started freaking out. She didn't numb the area and I had to hold my screaming daughter as the doctor poked and squeezed out the infection for what seemed like an hour but was probably 30 seconds? As you can imagine, this was really painful and we were not at all prepared for this. I just want to get some second opinions on if you think everything about this sequence of events was normal?
