My $70k Mercedes doesn’t even have leather. Leatherette is fine.

Sorry but it’s nothing similar. I remember the vinyl cars from the 70s. They tore, were sticky, sweaty and looked cheap. Leatherette is indistinguishable from leather except you can scrub it with soft scrub and magic erasers. So incredibly durable. I don’t think it makes you sweat more than leather.

It gets hot as hell in summer to the point where I had to put down towels—sorry. This is the only thing I disliked about my black VW sportwagen.

So everybody is focusing on the durability and looks but how about air quality inside the car? Is it affecting it in any way? After all this is highly processed petroleum product isn't it? Unless it is made of leatherette-ed cows?

We have a 2010 jetta and the leatherette seats look brand new. I prefer it to leather because it doesn't show any cracks or signs of wear. I wish my subaru had them

I have the leatherette on VW 2006 convertible. It looks great and easy to clean.

Is it important to you to have either or? If so which one and why?
