Ha it is my DD's top choice. She has visited twice. I will have another at an ivy full pay same time and a third in high school. Similar HHI as OP. Saved some but yes it will be tough.
Midd alums do well in law school placement which is what DD wants to do. Wants the attention of a smaller school coming from a small private in the DC area.
It is a top 5 SLAC which I think is worth the brand name. I don't know if she gets in. ACT higher than their average but GPA lower.

23% of students come from families in the top 1%. Meanwhile, the median income for alumni at age 34 is a paltry $62K. How much value are you getting out of that $55K/year tuition? Obviously they are known for teaching and language programs, but does the tuition, isolation and limited career earnings potential justify the exorbitant cost?

Middlebury is an excellent look Bernal arts college in a beautiful location. You would be surprised at how much life there is up near the Canadian border. Your kid will get a first-rate education in any major they offer. That average wage is actually pretty high.
Whether your family can c9mfortably afford this and chooses to is another matter. Your kid probably has some good options that cost less. But if full freight is worth it to you anywhere, this is a school to take seriously.

Middlebury is a great school. I wouldn't send a kid who was STEM focused or one who really wants a big university environment or urban setting. Otherwise, I'm prepared to pay whatever I can afford for whatever school offers the best academic fit and future opportunities for my kids.

Lots of Middlebury people at my fed govt analytic job. They make $100K by early 30s and can access a $30K signing bonus if their language skills are good enough. Maybe that’s not a lot of money for you, but I think it’s pretty good.
