Not close, but "walkable to" or "an easy walk to" would work.

Not to be rude, but "who cares"? When the distance to Metro is a mile or less, you'll be cutting your risk of MI/Stroke. So it's a good thing, not bad. I walk it!

It’s not a .5 miles walk, OP said it’s .5 as the crow flies. If you have to wind through neighborhood streets, that can easily be at least a mile.

I live a 20 minute walk from a metro station, and while I can walk it, on a daily basis it's usually just faster to catch a bus or bike share. So no, not a short walk.

Can you walk there straight-line? If not, that’s a useless measure. How long is the actual walking distance?

+1. Under 10 minutes is considered walkable. Although I have suffered through many a real estate listing that said the home was walkable but was really driving distance.

20 minute walk is a mile. The “straight line” distance doesn’t matter. It’s walkable, but that’s not a “short” walk.

I consider 10 minutes or less walkable. 20 minutes is doable in good weather, it if it’s rainy, icy, etc., it just doesn’t work.

As the crow flies doesn’t matter, you know that. A 20 minute walk is a nice-to-have but not close enough to be convenient.

We’re .5 miles/10 minute walk. That’s the outer bounds of close, in my opinion.

Anything under a mile is walkable. Half a mile is a short walk.

We listed our home as short distance to metro. Straight line on a map it is .51 miles.

Actual time to walk from doors opening in station to our front door is a 20 minute walk.
Some realtors in pre-view thought it was “far”.

Is there a standard now? Under 10 minutes people consider walkable?
