Agree with PPs, ours wouldn’t sleep in anything but...we knew about this and at 8 weeks, out he came. Transitioned to the swing for naps. Night time was a pain for a long time.

Definitely tragic, but why on earth don't people follow instructions? I have an almost 3 year old, hell, I still strap her in to her booster seat at dinner-time!

Our kid slept in a bouncy seat a lot. He had bad reflux and he had to be reclined and the crib was not working. Eventually we did transition him to the crib and when we let him sleep in it it was usually naps right next to us but still sometimes its just survival. This sounds like misuse. We stopped using our bouncy seat - similar style - when we could see our child was trying to wiggle out of it and it didn't seem safe. But people don't always use it properly which is what this article is saying.

It’s impossible for a baby to roll over if they’re strapped in the rock n play the way your supposed to. Both my kids were always strapped in. The rock n play was a godsend for my reflux babies. They could never sleep flat bc they’d spit up constantly and then start screaming from the pain. It was horrible.

To be clear it's 10 deaths since 2015 and all were 3 months and older who could roll over and the restraint was not used. What is a company supposed to do when consumers won't follow directions.
We used it but only for the first couple months when dd could not roll over or move much.

The first paragraph of the article stipulates that the danger is when babies roll over in the Rock n Play and the deaths occurred after 3 mos. of age.

I can’t get that link to load, but I read another article today that pointed out some of the ways people were using them incorrectly which lead to the deaths - with babies too big or who could roll back to belly, or not strapping kids in. Definitely tragic, but it doesn’t sound like they were random accidents.

These were all infants over 3 months of age who rolled over. Just for some perspective.

Desperation. Some kids wake up the second you put them down that way, for months.

+1.

+2. What are you supposed to do if kid will not sleep anywhere else? You will literally go insane if you don’t get some sleep.

Tragic, but I would’ve gotten far less sleep if we didn’t use the rock n play for our two kids. It was amazing.
