Why are UMC white and Asian kids performing so poorly at Yorktown HS compared to similar schools in Fairfax?

McLean HS has whites scoring 1861 and Asians at 1960. At Yorktown whites are scoring 1788 and Asians score 1786. That is a tremendous disparity. Is APS really that bad?

Your thread title is misleading. At least as used on this forum (and the link):

ACPS = City of Alexandria Public Schools

APS = Arlington Public Schools

This data breaks it down by specific schools and demographic groups in specific schools. You can see how middle class and UMC Hispanic and black kids in McLean HS fare vs their counterparts in a similar well off school zone like Langley or Churchill.

Nothing on this thread will help Maryland prices or schools catch up to NoVa.

Wow. I'm surprised people don't know these basic concepts.

Maybe they were educated in VA Sorry, had to throw that in there.

It is hilarious that you think the "best school" is the one with kids who score highest on the SAT test.

Looks like MCPS uses mean while the other two uses average. Not comparable.

Average and mean are the same thing. You must be mistaking mean for median.

Imagine knowing so little but thinking you could correct someone else

Must have gone to school in Virginia
