This is why my kids are in DCPS. These parents are crazy and have literally no perspective. It's toxic, to repeat a PP.

The problem with that would be that children of wealthy parents and parents with high-profile jobs wouldn't always get in. Not endorsing this approach at all, but that's the way it is. (FWIW, I'm a Sidwell parent).

Happened to us in private 6th grade. Around admissions season, the mom of the class bully, a girl who kicked others, complained to the school that my kid and another were bullying her daughter. Fortunately, the school’s number two met with us and actually laughed about who this was coming from.

Disgusting behavior by these parents. I wish they could be identified and publicly shamed.

Well happened? I hate articles like this. It does not tell you what actually happened.

Not surprised. It's rare, but it happens.

It’s beyond the pale, and you’ve lost perspective if you think that it isn’t.

If Sidwell didn't want to be a pressure cooker, but wanted to stay an "elite" school that only educates students who are already exceptional, they would do admissions with a high-but-reasonable bar and a lottery.

You must be naive OP. It happens all of the time in DC. Where there is money....there are people who think their kids are better than yours ... and they want to buy their way into places.

When my kid was accepted to HYP from an elite DC private...we had mothers coming to us telling us that our child did not "deserve the spot" because they didn't take every AP offered and their kid did.

I think the normal reaction is to be shocked, surprised and sad that parents do this. Your reaction is not normal. THAT is the problem.
