Disagree. You would see a similar decrease in other, similar schools. There is no sharp decrease in ITS, Lee, Two Rivers, Cap City etc. People are seeing behind the façade of CMI. I mean they barely got a 3 star rating (they were less than one point away from a 2 star rating).

Interesting, the WL # for WOTP DCPS schools fell off this year, as a whole. Anecdotal guess, charters options are getting better and becoming more accessible. It's no longer worth schlepping your kids across town to get to these schools. Dare I say, progress has been made.

Ouch. I do notice a lessened interest in CMI in our area. It is no longer passing the "would I drive far for this" test.

Amazed at the waitlisting of siblings at former safety schools!

Seaton is mostly in-bounds for PK these days. So fewer people probably apply.

A shorter waitlist does not necessarily mean the school is tanking; it could mean that the overall quality of the choices has been increasing.

Interesting info on PK3 at Shepherd, only 2 IB on the PK3 waitlist, and an additional 6 with sibling before the no preference/OOB folks.

Having an IB waitlist is relatively new for Shepherd in the last 2 years. It seems a lot of the talk here was that people totally discounted it because they thought they had no chance. I'd bet a handful of OOB/no preference make it through by fall.

Cap Hill Cluster schools (Peabody, Watkins, SH) offered a total of 3 seats (Watkins 1st) across 9 by right grade levels. That's a small number for Watkins

Harmony seems to be flailing as well. I thought they had agreed to offer pk?

I’m just so happy this system keeps getting better and better each year. Y’all new families have no idea the lack of transparency and ability to gauge 8+ years ago. This is a perfect system in an imperfect circumstance.
