Centers does involve the kids breaking into smaller groups to “play” in different areas. At circle time they’ll be together in a... circle.

Many PK programs look like this.

One preK3 classroom I saw had kids in various parts of the room doing different things. It seemed a little "loose"/ free play but that might be part of the flow of the day for PK3? (It may have been "centers" if I remember the term correctly) The other classroom seemed to be more focused with kids in circle and a young teacher focused on them. There is a schedule they follow for the day. I guess it depends on the grade...

I'd definitely go on a tour!

on a tour, I really wanted to see what was going on in class. Did it look like kids were on task?

How'd it look on that point?

I went to an open house and did a private tour. I didn't love the private tour as I felt like some of the answers to questions like "how would you handle bullies" were not answered very thoughtfully. But there are many committed parents (stop by Morelands Tavern and talk to the owner, he's a parent there and with his wife he is very invested in helping improve the school). Also, the principal seems great. We've interacted with her a couple times and were impressed. Also, as I understand there is low staff turn-over. They just got a new soccer field and are working on a new playground. Some parents are leading the charge on this. It's our inbound, and if end up there, we are okay with it.

They are a standout within the system, consistently a model for other schools. Excellent leadership.

Principal is very committed. Building needs a renovation. If I was starting over and this was my neighborhood I’d go for it.
