SIL said WVU, CNU, and UC Boulder were his safeties but he was actually rejected at UC Boulder.
Serious question...what score range do you define as "terrible at standardized tests"? I ask because my DD is in this same situation...straight A, lots of AP, but low test scores. Acceptance at some of the schools that you mention don't seem to align with students with low test scores (e.g., NC State, JMU). So, just curious, what range got your nephew into those schools?
