I also live in that neighborhood and wondered why kids at that age had to get up that early in the morning for soccer. On weekdays, Franklin Sherman ES kids do not go to school until 9:15am. Why so early on Sunday? Don't kids need a lot of sleep?
I have a 7 years old and a 11 years old. They go to bed at 8:30pm on Saturday night and do not get up on Sunday until 10am. They have private tennis lessons at Mclean Sports and Health but that do not start until 1pm.

If your kids aren't overachieving, they're falling behind. College app / resume building starts at conception.
Plus, Mom and Dad need to be able to tell their friends that their kid is gonna get a soccer scholarship!
Yes- they could just be fat asses like the majority of American obese kids.
You are posting on a soccer forum, btw.
Soccer provides the best cardio. After years of playing soccer, I transitioned to marathon running. I loved playing as a kid, even the early morning games and my base level of fitness has always been high since and carried into adulthood.
While you are getting your leisurely coffee, I’m most likely at a Spinning class or going for a morning run.

This morning on my normal walk from my house to the Starbuck for coffee, I already see lot parents with young kids, age 7 to 10 from what I can tell, are already at the grass field right next to the school for morning soccer in the rain at 8am in the morning. I can only imagine that there will be more kids at 9 and 10am. I played D1 soccer at Ohio State University from 1990 to 1994 and I don't recall being up that early on Sunday when I was 10 years old.
Not sure why kids have to be up so early in the morning for soccer.
