This is my 3 yo. The only time the house is quiet is when he's either not home or asleep. Otherwise it's nonstop singing, WHY questions or narrating.

Last night was a Daddy/Son night. I got to sit at home, eat pizza and chocolate cake, drink beer and do what I wanted for 2 1/2 blissful hours. It was awesome. I love my DS and the activity and excitement he brings. I really do but that solo time is a god send.

That’s my dd. Constant chatter. It’s amazing how different the energy is in the house when it’s just her compared to just her older brother. He sits on the couch with his nose in a book for hours. I’ll forget he’s there! I’d never say the same about dd!!!

That was my son! He was exhausting and I am a single parent so it was us 24/7. Now he is 13 and barely talks. He is either eating, sleeping, being grumpy or grunting one word answers. We occasionally have a conversation. I never thought he would go from constant talking to hardly any talking.

I now understand why my mother would sometimes “disappear” to the bathroom. It was the only way to escape me and my 5 siblings and get a moment of quiet.

SAME!!! This is why I get to my office at 645 every morning. No one else is there and I have 90 blessed minutes of TOTAL PEACE AND QUIET. Recently one of my other coworkers started also coming in early so he could have lengthy speakerphone meetings with a colleague in Europe, I nearly cry out of frustration when I come in and see that he’s already there. Cannot freaking wait til that project is over and I have the early morning to myself again.

I have an almost 5 year old and an 8 month old (and two dogs). The 5 year old talks all the dang time. From wake up to sleep. She narrates anything and everything. Stories from things she remembers, pretend play, telling people what she plans to do, jokes, requests. It is constant. The 8 month old squeaks and squeals. The dogs bark. I just need a sound proof booth to sit in for 15 min a day. It is killing me.
