We use SKubb by ikea, there are 2 sizes, (not the drawer divider sizes...the bigger ones) depending on the collection of toys. I have the toys sorted by themes, animals/ dolls/ transportation / playmobil.

I used to keep them on shelves in the basement. Now I live in London and have to keep them in a pax wardrobe in theiir bedroom withth child locks on, so that they don’t pull everything out at once. They know that they must tidy up one box before I will swap it for another. The length of rotation is up to them.
The smaller size fits well into a kallax cube shelf

Not really what you are looking for but we do the rotation on a more piece-meal basis so our kid doesn't really notice it. So we take a few trucks and books and put them in a bin in the closet and take a few toys and books and rotate those out. He won't necessarily notice if one toy is gone (and we can deflect and just say we don't know where it is) but he woudl notice if they all switched one day.

But also valid if you want to be more upfront with him and tell him that things are being rotated, obviously.

Do you have room to do a cube storage stand and rotate some of the cubes in and out? Maybe 2 cubes out at a time?

I want to put away most of our toys and just have one bin out per day or week (I'll see how quickly DS seems to get bored with it). I'm debating what size bins to get, I was going to get large ones that could contain some of the bigger toys like large trucks and a long light up wand but haven't 5 or so of those will take up a ton of space and be a pain to lug up and down the stairs. Maybe smaller ones and just leaving the big toys out separately to grab and rotate on occasion? I know I'm definitely over thinking this but I want to figure out something easy so that I do actually rotate them.

Anything that worked well for you?
