Your kid was most likely contagious at the party. That's the point we are all trying to get across.

You can get it as fast as one day after. As someone with a 4 month old, of course you tell her. That way if the baby has any signs, she can take them right away for tamiflu.

I would mention it but I think the overreaction here is a little over the top.

I mean, this time of year, anywhere I take my kid I assume he's been exposed to the flu and I keep my eye on him. I'm assuming that this mom is careful enough to consider the same if she has her baby around all these kids..

my point is, I would do it because it feels like the right thing to do but I don't think there's actually any benefit

It's not about where your kid got it. It's about her being aware so she can keep an eye on her 2 month old baby, for which the flu would be very serious.

I don't think anyone assumes passing this info along is a hidden accusation. I would just want to know my kid had been exposed in case he seems to be feeling crummy (I don't generally take kids in to be tested for flu).

Of course you should tell her.

If you tell her, make the best effort to not make it sound like you are blaming her or the party for your child getting sick. If that is your intention, don't do it.

There's always something going around when you have kids.
If you happen to talk to her, just say the party was great, but we are sick, that's it.

Yes I'd tell her. Mainly so that if he gets a fever in the near-term, she knows that he's been exposed to flu and can make choices accordingly.

And yes, I'd let all the other parents at the party know too. I'd want to know, so that if my kid spikes a fever I can get them tested and get tamiflu.

That said, my 4 year old's best friend recently had the flu (they play non-stop at school) and she did not contract it from her. So it's not a guarantee.

It takes 2 seconds to send a text. She may be concerned, she may not. But it always helps and never hurts to have this type of information.

On Saturday I took my kids to my best friend’s kid’s birthday party. My kids were among probably 10 other kids there. Most of them had runny noses and/or coughs/sneezing. I mean, it is that time of year right?
My younger kid, who was fine Saturday, developed a fever yesterday. Today he tested positive for flu A. Older kid doesn’t have a fever (yet).
Here’s where I feel conflicted. My best friend also has a 2-month-old who obviously was also at the party. My kids didn’t have any contact with him and no physical contact with the birthday girl either. Should I tell her my younger one has the flu? I feel terrible, and I wouldn’t have taken him if I had known but he wasn’t sick at that point. There isn’t really anything she can do, right? I don’t want to unnecessarily alarm her or freak her out.
