You are indulgent and she now feels entitled. Break the cycle now because you’ll be replacing cars next and that’s a much higher price tag!

I have an old phone - not even a flip. My kids know that is the backup in this house. Makes and receives calls which is all I need a phone to do to communicate with them. All the other stuff is extra so if they want it, they have to care for the phone they have or buy themselves a new one. That translates to a lot of babysitting hours!

OP- really? Fix the screen one last time. If she breaks it again, phone gone for two weeks (or a period of time that would feel uncomfortable to the point of being miserable). After that, she will need to pay to fix it herself or go without.
Let her experience being without a phone long enough that she gets the point of how inconvenient it is.
That's what I would do.

My kids get one screen repair on me in high school. After that, it’s on them.

Op, yes f you keep paying, how exactly do you expect her to learn how to take care of things? Mom will just fix it.

Are you using a screen protector? I have never broken a screen with a screen protector on.

My little sister was the same way. When she was still under my parents’ plan and they bought insurance she broke her screen 5-6 times. Why? Because she told me it was cooler to not use a case. (No screen protector either I guess). So stupid. But mom and dad fixed it every time. When she finally got her own plan she fixed her screen about 3 times at those kiosks in the mall before realizing how expensive it was and stupid she was being.

Agree with PPs. Your DD needs to learn responsibility not have everything magically fixed for her when she is careless. She needs to pay for this repair and any future ones.

I would make her pay to fix/replace the screen each time. Plus I would make her pay for a new case. I have never broken a screen. Your child is careless and knows you will just fix it each time, so it sounds like she isn’t even trying to be careful with the phone. Although, in all honesty at this point my child would have the phone taken away permanently. If my child wanted A phone she would have to buy it herself and take care of herself. There would be no way that I would continue to repair a phone that my child continue to break on an ongoing basis.

In the last 12 months, she has broken her iPhone screen 6 times. Each time, I put a better case. last time, I got her an otter box. Replaced the battery and screen....

that was in December.

In the 10 year I have been using a smart phone, I have broken the screen 3 times.
