+1

I hate having to sit on a bench unless I’m at a picnic.

Parsons tables are not timeless. They are already looking dated.

Parsons tables originate to the 1930s.

Everything has a date because things exist in time and are not "timeless."

Even rocks, if you trained your eye.

We got our dining room table from Vermont Wood Studios about four years ago and it's gorgeous.

We did a custom build -- Shaker, with an oval top, and two leaves to be able to expand for company. Not cheap, but fantastic quality, and we won't ever need to replace it.

I was thinking not ornate or glass top.

We are moving there, but if I wasn't moving there, I'd still buy it from her and figure out how to rent a uhaul to bring it back to DC and drive down there to get it. I looked everywhere in furniture stores and couldn't find anything nearly as nice.

This was an option also, just getting one handmade.

I would buy an antique table with leaves. Everything else will look dated in 15 years.

It’s time to invest in a dining table. We’d like 4 chairs and a bench, for company and kids. We want it to be timeless, durable, great quality.

Is room and board the only way to go?

Thanks.
