I felt ready for another right away even though I hated the baby phase (clearly hormones or something). I got pregnant when baby was 13 months and felt like we had 1 down and were prepared to take on more. I'm 5 weeks into baby 2 and its awful and it turns out we weren't ready at all. I also with 1 it gets easier quickly but with 2 it won't get easier for at least a year b/c they're just both in such high needs phases for the next year and its really relentless needs

I loved the newborn phase. That newborn turned into a fussy infant and a clingy, tempermental toddler. There was NO WAY I could have handled another one until he was around 3.

I loved the newborn stage as well, OP. I knew immediately onnwayed more kids and started trying when the baby was 8 months or so. I now have 3 kids. All were great as babies and I still love the baby stage and newborns also. My kids all walked every early and that part I find challenging but it’s kot like I hate it or anything.

I absolutely loved the baby phase, but didn’t want another right away. My two are now 6 and 3 and they are kicking by butt way more than either did as babies.

I felt like this as soon as DC1 was born. Loved it so much. Waited until DC1 was a year and got pregnant right away.

I never went on birth control after out first and my two are 15 months apart. I remember being in the hospital thinking DD was so perfect that I wanted another asap. It’s been great. We do have a ton of family support.

I felt the same as you, op. Really loved the newborn phase and felt ready to have another early on. It was hormones. But we did want our kids close in age so we wound up waiting the recommended 18 months between pregnancies and were lucky enough to conceive right away, meaning our kids are 27 months apart in age.

Around 3 as well. Couldn't have imagined it earlier. DS will turn 4 shortly before #4 is born

At 3. And lo and behold I'm pregnant and dd2 will be here on 5 months.
After dd1 started walking and talking it was a whole new ball game and harder on many ways than the diapers and no sleep of the newborn/infant.
I'm happy we waited. She's a person now and can be reasoned with a little and she lokes playing by herself too.

OP- sorry I should have been more clear. I am NOT looking to get pregnant again tomorrow, just surprised at how much I like the newborn phase and wondering if people liked this part of babyhood but then things got harder and decided they didn't want another anytime soon.

Wait at least 18 months in between. We waited 2.5 years, and I think it was a good buffer. Your body physically needs that time to recover.

It’s hormones, OP. Just love on your current baby and reassess later.

Give your baby time to be the baby! Isn't he/she enough to focus on right now?

I have an eight week old baby. I assumed I wouldn't like the baby phase but much to my surprise I love having a newborn and feel like I could get pregnant again tomorrow. Did anyone else feel like this at first and then go on to not like other parts of the baby phase and need more time to think about #2?
