I didn't lose much weight breastfeeding. I had to eat so much to produce milk that my diet was similar to when I was in my third trimester.

Look into IIFYM for breastfeeding moms.

Breastfeeding can cause the body to go into storage/starvation mode especially with surges in cortisol and even worse, if you try to "cut" calories. Im eating 2200 calories a day and losing almost 2lbs a week since starting. I also take vit c with iron, prenatal without iron, ashwaganda, and calcium/vit D liquid supplement.

If, after a few months there is still no movement, then look into having the thyroid checked. It can go haywire- either way- during pregnancy and post-partum.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5104202/

"Women who breastfeed require approximately 500 additional kcal/day beyond what is recommended for non-pregnant women. The estimate is derived from the mean volume of breast milk produced per day (mean 780 mL, range 450-1200 mL) and the energy content of milk (67 kcal/100 mL)....The recommended daily allowance for protein during lactation is an additional 25 g/day. Requirements of many micronutrients increase compared to pregnancy, with the exception of vitamins D and K, calcium, fluoride, magnesium, and phosphorus. As such, it is recommended that women to continue to take a prenatal vitamin daily while they are breastfeeding (Tables 2,?,3).3). Weight loss during lactation does not usually impact the quantity or quality of breast milk, but maternal deficiencies in magnesium, vitamin B6, folate, calcium, and zinc have been described during lactation.69,71 Both fat (vitamins A, D, K) and water-soluble vitamins (vitamins C, B1, B6, B12, and folate) are secreted into breast milk and their levels are reduced in breast milk when there is a maternal vitamin deficiency...

I was so so much hungrier nursing. I gained 50 lbs with the baby and held on the 20 of it until it weaned at 12 months.

I gained nursing. Briefly lost part of it then my hormones crashed and I gained again. My boobs perked up and went down a few cup sizes after weaning though. (Small victories must be celebrated) heavy cardio/weights/keto is my plan for body. Also SLEEP. Immediately post partum I’d lose weight and inches when sleeping better.

I gained while BFing - I just had to eat so much and I was an overproducer. Stopped about 4 weeks ago and already down a couple pounds. Definitely held onto the “I’ll lose so much weight BFing!” dream but oh well.

My body hung on to the last 10 lbs while nursing. I had a tall/big baby that was a milk fiend.

I gained after my son started walking a lot by himself and wouldn't want to be carried. Now I'm pregnant with #2 and hoping to lose the 35+ lbs I'm on track to gaining without putting any back... We shall see...

It’s different for every woman and different for different pregnancies one woman has. With my first two kids, I was spoiled. The weight just fell off. I ate all the time. I was so hungry. But after the third pregnancy, I gained even more weight while I was breastfeeding. I just kept getting fatter. It wasn’t until I was able to get appropriate amounts of sleep that I was able to lose weight significantly. It really sucks.

Poor sleep and hormones can F up your ability to lose weight.

I know it's hard, but just stay off the scale until you are getting a decent amount of sleep and can start doing a few workouts. Some of us just don't lose weight while breastfeeding. You are not alone

My body clung on to the extra 20 ibs weight till I weaned after a year. Looked hot for a few months or so, DH perked up, and then bam pregnant again. Oh well.

Also, you don't say how tall you are, and I mean this kindly, but it's not like you're a whale....go easy on yourself. I was you for a long while and I wish someone told me to stop looking at the scale until I stopped breastfeeding. Don't let yourself go off the deep end with eating thinking what does it matter, I'm fat anyway! as you drown in pints of ice cream, and once you're done hopefully it will melt off for you, too.

Hi, I am OP, thank you for your response.

In bold is what everyone says and THE LIES!

I feel like a little whale, I am only 5ft.

All the weight, is in my breast and stomach, dear lord I wish I would gain it proportionally (preferably in my bottom , haha)

This could be breastfeeding or just PP hormones gone wacky.

I gained 10 lbs after I stopped BF-ing.

Not everyone loses the weight through BF. I held onto the extra weight until about 9 months PP when I started working out and eating better.

Now, 8 months postpartum with my second son, I'm starting to work out and eat healthier. Trading carbs for veggies, upping protein to keep me fuller.

It would be foolish to expect the weight to fall off without any effort. It happens for some people, not most.

"you'll lose weight" they said

I am much more heavier than I was two weeks postpartum. I have EBF for four months now, and I weigh what I was weighing in my third trimester.

I am always hungry, I can eat healthy yet still I am gaining weight.

here is the breakdown of my weight
Pre-pregnancy - 120lbs
Before delivery - 147lbs
Two weeks PP- 125lbs

Four months PP - 137 lbs

ugh ..
