My DD and a preschool classmate had birthdays just a few days apart last year. I reached out to them asking if X day would be ok to make sure they hadn't already planned something for that day. It all worked out well.

My DS shared a birthday with a girl in his class, they were birthday twins and remain engaged 2 years out of Preschool but that is another story. We coordinated parties and classroom treats with her parents. It was easy for us to do because the kids played together and were good friends. They ended up having their 5th birthday party together which was pretty awesome.

Anyway, contact the family and ask what their plans are.

You’ll be fine having the party over memorial weekend especially if inviting the whole class. My kid’s birthday usually falls during Easter/spring break and we still get a good number of kids attending. You could try for Sunday as suggested above - late afternoon timeframe. We’ve gone to Sunday parties that have been well attended.

My child’s birthday falls close to MLK weekend. I could have done his party on the MLK weekend or the weekend after. I opted for the weekend after bc we were doing a venue party and I didn’t want to shell out hundreds of dollars for a venue that holds 25 kids if only 5 kids were going to show up. If attendance is a concern, I would not do a birthday on a holiday weekend.

Like others have said, I’d either coordinate with the parent or throw it on a Sunday.

People come to parties. No matter of Sat or Sun, AM or PM.

I have only ever thrown Sunday bday parties and never had an issue with ppl coming, both morning and afternoon.

+1. You could also ask the other kid’s parents if they are having a party and what date. I’m assuming since you’re inviting the whole class that’s he’s young, and the parents have probably been doing the rounds all year. They will be happy you reached out to coordinate.

^^just saw you're inviting the whole class. I wouldn't do that on another classmate's actual birthday then. Do the Sat of Memorial Day weekend or a different weekend entirely. Or Sunday May 19?

How old is he? Like could you have it May 11, or the weekend after Memorial Day without him really noticing/caring? If not, I'd do the May 18th party as long as you kid and the other kid aren't good friends to where he'd be inviting this kid to his party!

My son’s birthday falls in the week before Memorial Day weekend. I have to choose a weekend for his party, and my preference is the Saturday before his birthday, May 18. However, one of his friends in his class has a birthday that very day (we don’t know if he is having a party or not). We are inviting the whole class and don’t want to have potentially competing parties. Should we have this party on the Saturday before Memorial Day? Will anyone show up? Any advice or ideas welcome. I’m new to the class party thing. Thanks.
