My DD and a preschool classmate had birthdays just a few days apart last year. I reached out to them asking if X day would be ok to make sure they hadn't already planned something for that day. It all worked out well.
My DS shared a birthday with a girl in his class, they were birthday twins and remain engaged 2 years out of Preschool but that is another story. We coordinated parties and classroom treats with her parents. It was easy for us to do because the kids played together and were good friends. They ended up having their 5th birthday party together which was pretty awesome.
Anyway, contact the family and ask what their plans are.
