Agree with 3-4 weeks. Kids are involved with various sports and schedules aren’t always in place well ahead of time.

You ignore it until 3-4 weeks out. I'm not making a commitment to a child's birthday party four months in advance.

I agree that 3-4 weeks is appropriate. It's not a wedding, 6 weeks out is too much.

2-4 weeks. As long as we are not the back up plan we will try to make it work.

4-6 weeks

4 weeks before though I already know that we have our big school "May Day" festival that day. Seems to be a popular spring celebration day.

I think 3-4 weeks is just about right. In our family, if there's anything major it's already in the books and sending it earlier won't make a difference, but 3-4 weeks helps us plan accordingly and allows us to move stuff around if we can.

I have a friend that sends invitations REALLY far in advance (6-8 weeks or so) and there's almost an expectation that you will come you because you received her invitation first and as of now, you don't have any other commitments. Same friend sent an invitation to holiday party in July for what I assume to be similar reasons, but personally I find it a little obnoxious.

I'd say 4 weeks is standard. 6 is fine, less than 3 isn't enough notice.
