Op here... We did southern California last summer (August) for this precise reason. We didn't do Disneyland but did hit up Legoland. It was a great trip and we even considered doing it again this year, lol.

I grew up in FL and I would never to to Disney World in the summer. I'd rather not go at all. Ymmv.

I think you'll be fine as long as you go early and then maybe take a break in the afternoon for nap or pool. And then go back in the evenings.

Exactly - it’s not that far off DC. It’s a good age to go. Go and enjoy it.
Our family never got out of the hotel until 10 and we survived just fine and have a lot of fond memories from that summer trip .

Disney does have a lot of indoor spaces and rides, and spray or shaded places . You’ll be fine.

I liked it , though it was intense. You end up doing those castle princess shows in the heat but it’s such a fun thing to do with a 3 year old.
Bring a T-shirt to change into while you are at the park just for a refresh.

No way. Too hot and humid.

You will have to be prepared:
Regular water breaks
Favorite indoor attractions to visit during the hottest - you have the hotel option too, but sometimes you aren’t ready to leave the park yet.
Must bring ponchos - pro tip bring one for your stroller too - if you have one.

After the storm moves out, good news is that it always drops degrees. You will need to ignore the humidity and how bad your hair looks. so does everyone’s

My suggestion is to do the attractions by priority, not by geography. Within reason. Do the must-dos first when you have energy. Obviously don’t be crazy about it and walk all over the place, but the kids will be happier they got their favorite things in.

I would wait another year or two and go in the fall or spring.

How tolerant are you of the heat? We’re a big hiking and outdoors family and have hiked the southwest deserts in August but honestly I can’t imagine enjoying Disney in July with a 3 and 6 year old.

We did Disney World in July two years ago. I didn't like it. The heat and humidity wore me down. DH and our two boys didn't complain but I swore I'd never do it again.

I went in November and couldn’t fathom being there during the summer, especially with small kids.

It rains in Orlando everyday at 3pm in the summer. Then the passing thunderstorm moves out.

The best time for us to go is the first week of July, or possibly the second. Kids are 3 and 6, and we'll probably stay at Contemporary or Boardwalk. We're also going to spend a day at Kennedy Space Center. We'll be there for 8 days but probably will do the 5 day park hopper. I was ready to pull the trigger and then got nervous about how hot it's going to be. We'll probably plan to hit parks early, eat lunch, then return to hotel for a nap or pool, but is it just going to be too miserable took enjoy it? We haven't been to WDW as a family before, and aren't the kind of people to go every year, even though we like Disney. We also aren't likely to go at Christmas because of thr crowds. We are more Europe, Central America, Pac NW, national parks type of family, but 3 is a tough age for those kinds of trips. Too big to carry, too small to walk very far. We'll take a stroller, and our kids love theme parks but not thrills.
