Subject: When do you stop putting money into a car?
I have a 2008 car and I put 3k in it last week doing the service work, new tires, brakes. The new model would set me back 97k-so I’m good paying a few k to keep it running.

figure out what you are comfortable with. figure each time you spend money. how many car payment that would be
for example a $1000 repair to the AC would fund 3 car payments
also have to factor in the down time. Ie will you be renting a car while yours is in the shop.

10 years is a big time frame things like suspension, shocks springs bushings, ect the car will start rattling and creaking a bit more. and so on.. the little plastic bits like knobs and vents will start breaking.
things will start leaking...

Subject: When do you stop putting money into a car?
I have a much beloved 2008 Mazda 3 with 182,000 miles on it. She's been super reliable all these years, but of course is starting to break down. How do you decide whether to put money into fixing a car this old? It runs pretty loud just normally, as if at a high RPM but it's not actually high. Going up steeper inclines is a struggle. Maybe some AC issues (not blowing super cold air). So far nothing major, just trying to think ahead!
