So affordable housing to me is around there

That puts the mortage payment at around 4000 a month which is selling price of around 900k

If you aren't at 200k HHI or don't see how you could get there. I would consider moving plenty of other areas of the country where you can be very comfortable on say 100k HHI. The DC area isn't one of them.

We bought a $500k in Alexandria city last year and I feel like we hit the jackpot.

If you are really asking dcum what affordable living is don’t expect a realistic answer. They also think 400k hhi is the norm.

Affordable housing starts at $2.5M
We are trying to buy around Kalorama and there is really nothing affordable there. There is nothing below $3M.

Over the past week its' been complaints about pop ups adding density, but not affordable housing and where posters really think $700-800k is affordable.

Not even a GS-14 can afford that price range a be comfortable. What am I missing here? I purchased a fixer upper for $500k EOTP and feel I hit the jack pot.
