I wonder if it will ever be repeated. I hope no one dies trying.

Watching the actual climb made both my palms and the soles of my feet sweat. Uuuuuunnnghhh no thank you. That climb is literally insane. Even knowing the outcome, I was terrified for him. I strongly identified with the cameraman who couldn’t bear to watch.

No. He probably has some form of Asperger's: high-functioning, but socially and emotionally un-attuned to others.

I hated the girlfriend too.

The movie is amazing.

If you like Free Solo, watch Meru. Even better in my opinion. I loved both.

I also googled him halfway-through to see if he was alive!

I thought he might be slightly on the spectrum

He is definitely on the spectrum

He has social anxiety. He has said that he started climbing alone because that was less scary than asking people to belay him.

I don't know, she did appear to call him out when he was a dick to her. They seemed to have a lot of chemistry and you can't help who you fall in love with.

I’m a climber and was at the gym today, on toprope, having to take deep breaths at being 50 feet in the air. And I thought about how he was doing a climb wayyyy harder, with no rope, 3000 feet up.
Unreal.
