I would not test them. I would implant both untested.

12 embryos is a totally different story than 2.

Glad someone asked this as I was just going to post about it... we have 12 embryos. Started with 15... first was an ectopic, second didn't take, and third is our 1 year old! I'm 40+ so if we try again, I was thinking I would definitely want them PGS tested to avoid both miscarriage and BFN's. Interested to hear other people's experiences with this.... I thawed and tested and refroze an embryo. It was PGS normal and it made it through the process without any issues. But I was 40 years old when the embryo was created; at that ripe old age, there is a much higher risk than at 28 of abnormal embryos. I would discuss with your RE but with only 2 frozen, I am not sure I see the point of testing and refreezing given the high chance that they are normal.

We thawed and tested 6. Only 2 made it. One did not survive thaw, and the other 3 arrested after being thawed. Based on your age at time of retrieval, I wouldn’t risk it.

You were so young when they were frozen; they're likely fine.

Each freeze and thaw is a risk. The more u do it the more risk. Testing itself doesn’t exactly increase success. You would just not transfer the abnormal blast. Possibly you would avoid an early miscarriage, but most abnormal blasts just don’t take. For people with lots of blasts, it can make sense to test. With only 2, plus the added risk, it doesn’t seem worth it.

If they are susceptible to not make it during a thaw for PGS testing, they might also not make it for a thaw for transfer. At least that’s what I was told by my RE when 1 of my 4 frozen embryos did not survive the thaw. We tested the other 3 and refreeze. The only one that was PGS normal from the 3 is now 10 months old.

Background: We have two frozen embryos. I can't remember grading, but they were considered good. Frozen when I was 28/29 years old. Dx, unexplained infertility. Now 35 and considering growing our family sometime this year. They weren't tested, but because this is going to be our final transfer, I am wondering if I can/should have them tested to increase likelihood of success? Is there harm in thawing and testing prior to transfer? Is it even possible? Does testing increase likelihood of success in my Dx? Should I just wait to meet w/ Dr. to ask these questions lol? Just wrapping my head around options before moving forward.
