Oh please, she doesn't have to live in NYC to work there. She can live in a borough and not "spend all her money on rent." She will commute like millions of other people.

Moved into our house. Street is full of same type houses. Meet a lady who is a SAHM (like me) and husband works very similar job to mine. BUT they belong to a CC, drive German cars, and did a $$$ reno on their kitchen. At first we were like ????

But it later came out that her grandparents paid for the house outright.

My MIL helps a lot and I don't hide it. Partly because I have gotten literally zero from my own parents since I was 18. But I don't feel sympathetic to the author, given that she deliberately chose not to build wealth (or even financial stability of any sort). My MIL can help us because she built up wealth from nothing by hustling.

But SHE choice literally the lowest paying field there is! I applied for publishing jobs when I first moved to NYC after college, and the pay was astoundingly low -- lower than temping, lower than the nonprofit job I ended up taking. I think one of the hiring managers expressly told me that the jobs were INTENDED for people with parental help.

Agreed. I feel for that woman because it's basically gas-lighting. Her financial situation is real. Those people isn't.

I think people are living in a bubble, just like the church and other scandals that come out eventually that these things aren't happening and haven't happened for centuries. I don't get all the oh, I'm so shocked and think that blogger is using it to make money, just like everyone else. Lame article. This isn't anything new and will not be the first or last scandal that has been or will be covered up or forgotten about in a few weeks.

I saw this article coming up as recommended after reading all the college bribe drama. Interesting. What do you think?
