Our 3rd is 26 months younger than his fraternal twin brothers. We wanted to have a close spacing so that the kids were all the same life phase (everyone in diapers, everyone napping, etc) so that their needs and interests would hopefully be more aligned. It's worked well for us, although I certainly think we would have had an easier time had the twins been older when their brother was born. Honestly, there are pluses and minuses to close and not so close spacing; I think you'll end up liking whichever you choose.

We had a third when our twins were 3y3m.
Best decision ever. She is great and easy going and close friends with her same gender twin.
Having a single baby after twins is a lot of fun.

Happened to my SIL! But both sets of hers are fraternal, I think having fraternal twins makes a repeat more likely. Fraternal twins run in her family so something ovulation wise.

Our third is 4 yrs younger than the twins, but we had a loss in between. The 4 yr gap made things super easy. The singleton was a breeze.

A lot of people with twins in my moms group have the 3rd 2.5-3.5 years after the first. Whereas most everyone else seemed to have their second 2-2.5 years after the first.

we have four with twins in the middle and the single after the twins has seemed easy by comparison with the twins

I have 3 year old twins and a 6 month old. The girls were 34 months when the baby was born. I'm glad we didn't have him sooner. It's nice that the twins had some level of independence. They were potty trained, could be generally trusted not to run off, and could entertain themselves briefly. All things equal I might've preferred to wait a little bit longer. Three has been haarrrddd.

My cousin had identical twin boys. Just under two years later, she had a single boy. Just over two years after that, she had a single girl. She loves it. Totally chaotic, but she has enough money to get some help. (As in she has an au pair and does not work outside the home.) They're really happy and the kids all manage well with whichever adult they can corral at the moment!

And FWIW, her husband is also an identical twin. His twin brother had a singleton and is expecting twins. There's a big history of identical twins in the family but no one had more than one pair of twins.

Anyone have twins then a third child? We have identical twins, 2 years old. Life is still very hard with them, though much easier than before, but adding a new addition would be intense. They constantly compete for our attention. I think it may make more sense to space a new sibling out a bit more than it would otherwise be for singleton siblings. Anyone have similar experiences who can shed some light on what age differences between twins and the third sibling has been like? I'm also banking on the fact that our twins are identical meaning that we won't have a second set of twins...
