I'm 21:19. My vet office never recommends any foods, just asks what I'm feeding. If I have questions about specific brands/ issues I ask their opinions.

My vet says my tiny dog can remain on grain-free, and she has a small heart murmur (common to the breed). She gets an EKG every year. She has an excellent diet and all labwork is great. I do watch legumes (some varieties of her food contain peas) because they are inflammatory.

Our vet is fine with us feeding our pugs CRAVE grain free. They've been on it about a year and their coats are so shiny and the constant ear infections have stopped.

Our vet does not recommend grain-free unless a dog has an allergy or other issue that requires it. It sounds like that might be the case with your dog. Have you asked your vet for their thoughts?

Grain free s the only food we found that is good for our dogs' stomachs as well.

I do find that they can tolerate moderate grain in biscuits without gross stomach outcomes, so I feed thrm a few biscuits a day and hope that does the trick

I still feed grain free. If your pup is doing well then I would continue.

I do not worry about the heart disease issue. It is not a decisive study, IMO. Do what works for your dog. I also have my beagle on grain free (Taste of the Wild) and I’m not going to switch over one study. She’s been great on it for years.

My 7.5 year old beagle has a sensitive stomach and fought diarrhea for quite some time. We tried all the usual remedies- prescription food, probiotics/digestive enzymes, pumpkin, FortiFlora, etc. and nothing stabilized his stomach until he went on this grain-free anchovy-based dry food from Italy. Now with the advent of GF causing heart disease, attributed to the lack of taurine in GF food, I don't know what to do. He has moderate arthritis and from my understanding, grains are inflammatory and can exacerbate joint issues. I do give him Pet Releaf CBD oil, but to be honest, haven't seen any of the miracles that people tout. His stomach can't tolerate meds used traditionally for arthritis.

I have been giving him 50% GF food and 50% grain food, but just feel confused. GF= good for his stomach and his arthritis but could contribute to heart disease.

I am curious what other people do.
