THIS. I'm 52 and that Shaun Cassidy record was the first record I ever bought. Begged my mom when I saw it at the mall. And even with a foggy memory, I knew that Queen would have been too big to ever open for Shaun Cassidy. My parents trained us up right: Queen was one of the 8-track tapes we played over and over.

Half-brother. Shirley Jones was Shaun's mother, David's stepmother.

Shaun started opposite Parker Stevenson on The Hardy Boys. David died a few years ago.

When he played DC around the same time, a band named Virgin opened for him.

“A kind of chaperone-bodyguard, Fred Westheimer,has left the White House with envelopes full of souvenirs. "Catch the matches," says Cassidy to a member of Virgin, the opening act in his show (the ads say, "SHAUN CASSIDY - Virgin," but don't ask).”

I have a very very fuzzy childhood memory of Queen opening for Shaun Cassidy when he played at the Baltimore Arena in like 1979 or so. Hoping DCUM can help confirm or deny it.

I definitely remember Shaun - I was a 10 year old in looooove. So that part is crystal clear. I remember Shaun's pants were so tight that they split, and he had to go backstage to put on some new pants.

But the Queen part is less clear. I always thought it was them, but now I'm not so sure. Unfortunately, repeated searches of old tour schedules/set lists - both Queen's and Shaun's - have revealed nothing.

This has bugged me off and on over the years but I finally saw Bohemian Rhapsody and now I want to know for sure. Figured someone else here might've attended that Baltimore concert and remembered...thanks.

By the way - wouldn't that be weird if it was true? Queen opening for Shaun Cassidy??? Ha!
