You are right that it's a low ratio (that's a good thing), but the infant ratio is 1 for every 2 under two.
No, in Maryland the ratio is 1 staff for every 3 children. Family child care homes can have up to 8 children, including 2 under 2 with one staff for the 8 children.
That is, 1:3 is the ratio for infants. https://earlychildhood.marylandpublicschools.org/system/files/filedepot/3/staff-child_ratio_chart_-_child_care_centers.pdf
That PDF is for centers.
For Family in home daycares we can have a max of 8 children and only 2 of those are children under 2.
Some licenses are for max 8 kids with 4 of them infants but you need an extra adult.

Anonymous wrote:The rates I saw a few years ago in Bethesda (2015) were around $350-$450 but some went closer to $500 per week. I'm guessing they'll have gone up since then, though I imagine it also depends how close they are to downtown/NIH/Suburban Hospital etc. You could call some daycare centers as well to see what their rates are - a home daycare should be at minimum $50-$100 less than a center as home daycares typically have shorter hours.
