Dr. Pohl is just exceptional. DD has some complicated bladder challenges and he has operated on her twice. He is very through and explains options/pros/cons well. DD had an unexpected complication arise during her surgery and he came out and explained everything quickly and throughly before proceeding. We see him yearly for checkups and I have been impressed with his approach to follow-ups.

When my 15 year old was an infant, we took him to Gearhart for a megaureter. We thought he was great.

Dr Pohl operated on our 1yo son to bring down an undescended testicle. I didn’t particularly like his personality but he performed fine. He was recommended by our peds office I think? One ped at some point post op made a comment that the testicle he brought down was still ‘high’ (definitely higher than the other) but I obviously can’t comment on how well the surg went. Good luck.

We had Dr. Gibbons as recommended by many friends and pediatrician. He was great. Friendly, explained everything, the surgery was very successful and a great experience (as far as surgery with your son can go, of course). I highly recommend him.

Pohl did my infant son's surgery for severe hypospadias and minor chordee. We were very impressed by him. He was thorough and patient with us, and I would recommend him in a second. We usually had our appointments at Children's in DC, but the outpatient surgery was actually scheduled in Fairfax, which worked out fine.

Op here, thanks so much. Rushton seemed annoyed by my questions and was dismissive, which I didn't like, but that doesn't mean he isn't the best choice from a clinical perspective. So your experience helps a lot - thanks!

Anyone use Pohl or Gearhart for this type of surgery?

Another vote for Rushton. I thought that he was warm - it’s just that he has a dry sense of humor.

My almost 3 year old has a pretty severe chordee (but no hypospadia). We have consulted with Rushton and Pohl at Children’s and Gearhart at Hopkins. Felt there were pros and cons to all. I can’t get any clinical outcomes data, my pediatrician didn’t have an opinion on who to go to, and I don’t know anyone personally who has gone to any of these docs (or even had a kid with chordee). So, anyonymous messaging board - help me out.

Anyone use any of these doctors for a chordee repair (with or without hypospadia)? Thanks in advance...
