You might need different types of brushes (talk to someone at a pet store about this--there are different brushes for different layers of the cat coat). Ask about "de-shedding tools."

Bathing a cat can help reduce shedding. Look for cat shampoos aimed at moisturizing and reducing shedding. There also are special wipes to use on cats between baths that remove hair and condition dry fur so it sheds less.

Wet food may not be enough--cats need enough omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids. Cats need high protein and fatty acid content. There are also coat improving supplements you can add to food or your vet can tell you about other things to try.

Stress, diet or she could just need to be professionally groomed. Once a year to a professional groomer is a must do with mine.

I know cats shed, but am wondering what the "normal" is and how to make it better. We have a new (adult) tabby cat who sheds quite a bit. I read that shedding is sometimes related to diet, but she eats pretty high-quality wet food, always has water available and hopefully is not dehydrated. I brush her regularly. When the hair comes out it seems to have a bit of dandruff on it. Is there anything I can do to reduce shedding? I love my kitty but hate the hair everywhere.
