OP, I don't have a suggestion for a driving school, but wanted to say that your cousin can absolutely learn to drive at his age. I got my license when I was 29 and have never been in a major accident (I had 2 fender benders that involved each car going less than 5 MPH). I've never had a ticket. It can absolutely be done.

I used mclean driving school.

I Drive Smart. But it’s expensive.

OP I learned to drive aged 40 and there were 3 of us "adults" in the classroom ed all aged 38-40. We all passed first time and now I've been driving 10 years, never had a speeding ticket or any kind of ticket, one bumped corner - other driver's fault.

Your cousin / friend will be fine.

Its not like learning to read as an adult, which is incredibly difficult to do. Driving is piss easy.

Not true...plenty of people learn in their 20s and 30s and are capable, safe drivers. It's not like we're talking about 70 somethings.

I don't have advice for an instructor in VA but want to say please don't be deterred by the PP who says learning to drive later in life is beyond his ability. I learned in my late 20s and while it was definitely not ideal (I am sure I built up a lot of extra stress around it) it is possible. I took lessons at a driving school in Maryland with a private instructor who was incredibly patient and calm. Call the driving schools near you and ask if there is someone there who has experience teaching older students - there are more of us out there than some people think.

I learned to drive in my 30s. Caveat is that I actually learned to drive a forklift in my 20s before I could drive a car!

I am looking for a driving school instructor for an adult driver in their 30's. My cousin is in his 30s and hasn't learned to drive yet (lived in dc all his life) and had many instructors who took him on the highway the first day, took him to pick up their friends or family or didn't advance to parking after weeks and just asked for more money. He's interested and motivated but having a hard time finding a good teacher.
