I did IUI with one blocked tube, only to end up with an ectopic on the other side. Horrible experience I would encourage anyone to try and avoid, all else being equal (which of course it isn’t, because you’re talking about the difference of thousands and thousands of dollars).

How much time and money do you have? I would imagine that the IUI would have 50% less chance of working since you would need to ovulate on the unblocked side to have a chance at implantation. If insurance is covering it and you are 25, sure do three or four cycles and see what happens. If you are OOP and 39, I would not lose those months trying and would move to IVF.

I had a tube that was closed at one end. I had the tube removed. We did one or two IUIs and ended up going the IVF route. Worked on the first try.

OP here. Yup! That’s how they identified the blockage. Since it’s on the distal end it isn’t likely to be a spam.

Ivf. You need to bypass the tube issue and get that embryo when it needs t be. Don't waste $$ and heartache n IUI.

I have PCOS and conceived first with IUI on first try (both tubes open). Trying for number 2 and one tube is blocked. On the fence about whether to do IUI or IVF. I was initially thinking IUI, but have been encouraged by RE to consider IVF.
