I felt safe (a huge fear/concern for me), had enough space for DH, DC, and me plus dogs and skis and luggage etc., and had a very smooth ride that worked almost as well as the Cadillac, which is generally smoother than almost any other car we've had. FWIW, I was hit twice while driving the Volvo, once from the side and once from the rear, and walked away without a scratch from both wrecks, as did DC and the dogs

When we replace the Cadillac SUV, I'll most likely go back to the Volvo model, because you just can't beat it for safety and for longevity. You have to stay on top of the servicing and using premium fuel, but it's worth it, IMHO.
(PS As you've probably surmised, I'm a good bit older and went through a period where we traded cars somewhat regularly ... hence the number I've owned over the past 35 years....)
