We are, for the first time, so I have no feedback yet. But another family with a child with ADHD and social skills issues said it was amazing for him, and I spoke with a second family in the area who is sending their child for a second year this summer and also said it was great. Brian is the camp director and was great to talk to. I'd reach out and see.

That’s so difficult to predict and so dependent on a camper’s ability to generalize skills.

I am the PP who said Summit is for ASD. I have recent experience (last year). I also have a kid with ASD and one with ADHD my ASD kid goes to Summit - I base my statement on the kiddos I have seen at Summit. I think it is not a good fit for kids with simply ADHD. The kiddos there do not appear or act NT as many ADHD kids do. Case in point it IS very structured and personalized because the kids are frankly pretty high needs. I think all the disagreements shows that it is hard to judge based on a diagnosis as the spectrums are wide and many kids who are called ADHD with Anxiety etc are actually IMO more like ASD kids. If your kid is fairly high needs but verbal I would recommend it. If you call, you can schedule a meeting with Thea Mulls who will come to your home and meet with your family and show you a video and answer questions.

This is where we always seem to have trouble. ASD has such a wide spectrum. We sign up for camps and classes and groups and are told the other kids are much like ours in terms of how affected they all are. But then the group is not a good fit for our kid and we get discouraged and kid gets less open to the next attempt.

How can you tell if you may have found a good fit?

PP is wrong. Summit is NOT exclusively for kids with ASD. Just look at their website section on “the kids we serve.”

I don't know about Sequoia. Summit is for kids with Autism not ADHD. They are kiddos like my son who need lots of support. Summit is fantastic for their population but if your kid has more mild needs I would not send him there as it won't be the right peer group.

Does anyone have experience with Camp Sequoia or Summit Camp, both overnight camps in PA for kids with ADHD, anxiety, social skills challenges, etc? Both look and sound great online and when talking to the directors, but would love to hear from anyone with first-hand experience. Or, are there other camps within driving distance that I should be looking into?
