I also would not offer the nanny money if you do not need her services. If she is supervising him, then of course, offer her something. Since it sounds like she is not, you might consider replying to the text again saying you're monitoring your DC (either from window or in person), but that if you ever need a date night sitter for DC, you could reach out to her to see if she's available but as of right now, you don't have a need for an after school sitter. It sounds annoying and I'm sorry your DC is caught in middle.

OP here. Not a troll...I will check that other thread though??? My kid isn't particularly hyper but I am going to try and time it where he is only at the stop a min or so before bus comes. I knew I was right here but I just needed a gut check. We share a neighborhood pool with this family and I worry about things being awkward this summer but Im just too busy/overhwlemed on the home front to care right now! Thanks all.

Do not offer the nanny any money! Your kid is old enoug to walk three houses down to the bus stop and back by himself.

She probably gets nervous if your kid is a bit too energetic at the stop and wants to settle him down. Maybe his energy is infectious and causes her more problems. You didn’t want to give her authority and pay so she is just telling the kids they are not allowed to play with child. They are 100% in the wrong but that might be their thought process.

No, you don't pay the nanny. That's ridiculous. Your 7 yr old doesn't need supervision at the bus stop. Just tell him to behave himself.

Is the nanny providing bus stop supervision for your child? Is your child running around the trees in a way that could be dangerous and need adult supervision?

If yes - pay the nanny.

If no - ignore.

Actually you turned it down three times, once to the nanny and twice to the neighbor. Why would the other kids be quiet around him?

I wouldn’t pay anything. It’s not your problem the nanny is always there. Your child seems safe enough since he is 7 and you can watch him from the window. Your neighbor is being silly.

My 7 year old rides the bus to school and the bus stop is 3 houses down. I can see him from my living room window. I use to always walk him to the bus stop everyday with my 2/3 year old but 5 weeks ago we had another baby. Since that point I have been just watching him walk to the bus stop. Our school policy is only K-ers have to have a parent at the bus stop and even that is only after school. After school I still pick him up at the bus stop. My neighbors nanny (who I like and know well as we chatted everyday for 1.5 years for a few minutes) mentioned she will "look after Larlo since the baby is here." I causally said "thanks, I can see him from my window, plus he's getting older so it seemed like time!" My neighbor then texted me over that weekend saying "Nanny is totally willing to watch Larlo at the bus stop and I don't mind "sharing" her let me know a rate you think is fair, I am sure she will be fine with it, she is very easy going!" I wrote back "Thank you but we feel Larlo is old enough for this responsibility and I can see him from me house." She responds "Nanny will always be there so there is NO way she won't be supervising Larlo." I didn't respond. Now DC has mentioned that the kids at the stop (all of Nanny's charges) are being quite around him and they aren't allowed to run around the trees anymore. He is worried he said something wrong but can't think of anything he did. I feel so bad for him but I also think its ridiculous. Would you just ignore and offer Nanny a few bucks???
