I have three kids and carpools are important to me. When I need to get multiple kids to multiple sports at the same time, carpools save me! I would not want to ask a friend to drive one of my kids to a practice/game if I could not offer to do the same for her at another time. So, I prefer having a third row. Also, new SUVs make it easy to fold down the third row and still have a lot of space in the back.

Kids are 8 and 11 and have a regular number of activities and we don't currently have a vehicle with a third row. No obvious social consequences yet but I do feel guilty when I can't offer to pick someone else's child up from an activity.
