Op, did you file a complaint regarding the lights?

FYI: the flipper has decided to keep the house and has turned it into an Airbnb hotel. That’s a separate issue in itself.

Update: The Airbnb guests in the new illegal, unregistered basement apartment keep triggering all 8 floodlights. It seriously looks like a parking lot or a concert.

Could you just ask the person when they’re there if they could aim the lights either down at the ground or at their own house?

I’m guessing they are probably doing construction on the house and they don’t want it left empty and completely dark at night. It is not unusual for construction sites to experience theft at night, so they are likely worried about security.

Here we go with the "unscrew the bulbs" and "shoot them out" comments. Don't take the illegal route. Trust me on this, if you do you are just giving them justification for the lights due to crime in the area. Big picture here... ask nicely and try to refrain from over the top phrases like "blinding". You might just get what you want.

I hate unnecessary lights.

Get black out shades or curtains like the rest of us do. Otherwise ask him to change them out for motion sensors or if he's not there, and you can reach them see if they are motion sensors and change the setting.

If you don’t have an HOA I suggest getting in contact with the realtor to see if they can contact somebody about the problem . It was newly sold so they might have a good contact for that and perhaps they can help you with your problem. I do not know about any lighting regulations in Montgomery county but you could always also try calling 311.

A flipper purchased the house opposite us and he/she decided to install several (4+) sets of floodlights pointing at neighboring windows. These aren't regular porch lights, they are blindingly bright, almost like they are designed for stadium parking lots. Is anyone familiar with Montgomery County residential light pollution laws (if any)? House is owned by an LLC and the lights are on most of the night.
