My kid does it, and like others have said - not sure of the therapeutic benefit but my daughter loves it and connects with the teacher so that's a win for us.

This is a great idea. I don’t even think it needs to have a clear therepeutic benefit- we can also value just enriching and enlarging our children’s lives!

My child likes to listen to classical music. She is five years old now. I plan to take her to music school next year.

My DD used to have weekly therapy sessions when she's 4. She spent 10 mins each session learning to play piano. She's fortunate to have a really good rapport with the therapist. We taped / observed the session, did the (fun) homework, and bought the supplemental books. She did it for 1.5 years, until the therapist moved.
Fast forward 5 years, she definitely still needs help with social communication but she has a perfect pitch and is good in Math.
Not sure how music therapy helped her directly, but she continues to love music for sure.

We do it. It has to be modulated music. It works. Calms them down. They are able to deal with sounds. Etc.

I don't see what the therapeutic benefit would but, but I do see the enjoyment benefit. Can you just find a very patient regular music teacher in the instrument you want and do that? I think they label things as therapy to triple the charge.

We had a very positive experience. No idea if it had a therapeutic impact. We stopped only because the logistics became unmanageable.

we tried years ago when DC was in preschool. Not really sure if the therapy itself worked, but he surely enjoyed it. I think he discovered his love for music during that year, he was too little to start music classes and his attention needed to improve. as he got older, his interest increased and he plays two instruments.

Considering music therapy at Levine for my 8yo child with ADHD/ASD to help with attending and social communication. Would love to hear from anyone who has done this or explored it as an option. Thanks
