Yes it is crazy. She wiped a million times this morning. when I checked, there was quite a bit in her butt crack. She had moved a lot of poop from down to up.

When I grew up I was wiping at 3. She's had a UTI, and DH freaked so we started wiping her butt after we had stopped. its like wiping an adults but. lol This is my last year. I'm done before Christmas whether there is poop or no poop left behind. DH can continue checking if he wants to.

I was 7 when I could reliably do it. Eventually got a Cambridge PhD. *shrug*

I'm old school and would probably make him clean his own underwear and skid marks. He is probably afraid of getting poo on his hands when he wipes but he will learn that it's easier to wipe well than touch and clean his own skid marks. Honestly, it will probably toughen him up a bit too which doesn't hurt.

Consider installing a warm water bidet.

Agree with the wipes. Teach him to throw them away (no flushing!). He will (probably) age out of them.

We also wipe 6 year old with a baby wipe. Pediatrician recommended it as a way to stave off UTIs.

This is gross to write out but my kids can do it on their own if, after a certain number of times I come in for a clean sweep after they are done doing it and I see that they’ve done a good job.

Have him bathe when he fails to wipe. He'll figure out that it is easier to wipe.

Can you buy him some gloves to wear? My niece has OCD related to germs and this was my SILs & BILs solution as she would either call a parent to wipe (had no shame) or not wipe (if out or away from them).

And IA, let him use baby wipes that he can toss.

We still use baby wipes for that age. Does the job much better, and maybe he will think it's not as gross if he's using a wipe instead of TP. Just make sure he puts the wipe in the trash and not the toilet!

Sticker chart, and he gets a treat when he has X number of stickers? He has to call you into the bathroom to show you the poopy paper in the toilet (gross. I know.), and he gets a sticker on the chart. Small prizes for 5, 10, 15, 20 and a big prize for 25?

4 year old (turns 5 in April) hasn't learned to wipe properly. He is now in a space where he doesn't want our help, but he literally won't wipe if we don't help him because he thinks it's gross. He also can't do it well, so he doesn't want to try. I am not sure how to handle this. If I catch him using the bathroom, I go in there and help out. But, sometimes he uses it without my knowledge, and later on, I'll smell poop and know he pooped without wiping. Gross. Tips? Ideas? We have talked about it, he knows he'll get a rash, he knows it smells, etc.
