the best behaved kid I've met perhaps in my entire life is child of a nanny. OP, you just need to socialize with a better circle of people. It's not the nanny's fault that your acquaintances are obnoxious.

This has nothing to do with a nanny and everything to do with the parents. It would appear that these parents hired a cheap nanny that cannot successfully set boundaries. Most nannies are much better at setting boundary and expectations compared to the parents.

If you treat the nanny well, the kids will respect her.

If you come home from work and bark at the nanny to wash your stinky nasty pump parts while chewing her out for not giivng your kids the perfect organic meal then they'll be mean and demanding.

If the parents treat the Nanny poorly, like they are merely servants than it is likely their children will have zero respect for them either.

And that is just sad.

From what is posted on DCUM, a majority of nanny employers appear to consider their nanny nothing more that a maid---child and adult care for family and are u ungrateful and complain about everythinh she's does, or doesn't, do

If they are a family that treat their nanny like the hired help then yes the kids will be brats.
I was a Nanny for many years or a nice family that respected me and my kids were well behaved.

Op here, no conclusions jumped to. These kids are brats.

Yes, op, every family who has a nanny terrorizes him/her and has bratty children. Do you jump to conclusion much or just in this instance?

Last week we hosted a joint play date with my ds (8/9 er) and two friends (also 8/9 ers). The week before, one of the friends families did the same, with nanny agreeing to facilitate.

During our week, ds and friends reveal a story about the week before. They basically told a story of tearing up the home and terrorizing the nanny for fun.

As the boys shared the story my DS didn’t seemed thrilled to talk about it and looked a bit uncomfortable. Kept trying to change the subject.


Later, ds reveals that he hated how the nanny was treated. Said that the parents were very mean to the nanny as well.


Are you mean to your nanny? Do you allow your kids to mistreat the nanny?

Over the years, I’ve found that the kids who seem to spend the most time with nannies seem to be rude and a bit obnoxious.
