Go when they are busy. You don’t want to eat old dimsum

Why? Just don't like shrimp, or other reasons?

At Hollywood east, the duck dumplings are incredible and hard to find elsewhere. Really like shrimp and chives. Spinach and crab. Steamed pork buns.

Most people like har gow, the shrimp dumplings.

I also like the pan fried turnip cakes, the steamed roast pork buns, the fried shrimp and pork dumplings, the shrimp rice noodle crepes, the baked roast pork croissants, the bacon rolls stuffed with minced shrimp, and the deep fried sesame balls with lotus paste. There is plenty more for you to like!

At Hollywood East, they do shrimp really, really well. I love the shrimp rice noodle crepes as well as the fried bread rice noodle crepe (sounds weird, but delicious). Any dumpling with shrimp would be great, I often order the shrimp with snow peas. If you're nervous about the cart, go on a weekday and order off the menu. They are very friendly and will help you, and you can also work off this list.

Just try things. It's like going into a bakery and sampling.

Not op but thanks! I'll try this place. How does it compare to other dim sum places in Wheaton?

It’s our go-to place. We usually go on weekdays, when you can order dim sum off the menu until 3:00 p.m.

Just point to what looks appealing when the carts come by. They will stamp or punch your card so hand that to the server once you get your food.

You can look online beforehand for an illustrated guide to common dim sum types. In general, things like shu mai, the clear shrimp dumplings, rice rolls, steamed buns, and fried items are pretty standard.

Here's what I like:
anything shrimp based
the dumplings with the soup inside.
chicken skewers

Just ask what’s on the cart and pick a few things from each cart. There’s usually a steam cart, fried cart, congee cart, dessert cart. It’s part of the fun.

I’ve only been out for dim sum one time, and it was with friends who knew what they were doing. When the carts came around they picked things they knew and explained to us what we were eating. I would like to go again but don’t know how to do it! Any suggestions?
