I think it's fine, but you're definitely paying for the name. Althought I definitely understand the 3-1 issue, the jacket you posted doesn't appear any warmer or less prone to being grown out of than this coat (which is also not 3 in 1):

You get what you pay for. Yes, you’re paying for the name, but it IS good quality, and as a company, I’d much rather support Patagonia as opposed to, say, Canada Goose.

This is a great jacket, it’s what my DS’ ski team in Colorado used for their team jackets and they last. I think it’s a decent deal—Patagonia doesn’t get marked down as much as other brands. Maybe you could find them for less used.
