Unless you have an infant, it really doesn’t matter what the exact number is. You would still treat it the same way whether there is a 1-2 degree difference.

NP here - I just stumbled across this post and am bumping for more reccos. May order the Kinsa Quick Care recommended in PPs. Currently have iProven and it is garbage. Readings all over the place and I just cannot. DC is 5.

Interesting re: Braun. We never trust ours and only use it for general ballpark.

Yesterday my 6 year old was sick. She was still in bed so perhaps extra warm, but ear thermometer in one ear said 104 and other said 103. As I freaked out my husband suggested we test ourselves - normal. I then went and tested her again and got a reading of 100.5 in one ear and 101 in other which seemed more believable. She took a nap and went to the doctor where they did not detect any fever.

My forehead one works great. Are you using it actually touching the forehead? You can't do it 2x in a row though because it needs to rest between temperatures.

Also, fevers are not dangerous. That's a myth. Treat the symptoms or if your baby is uncomfortable.

+1. Easy to use, can pick one up at Target or CVS, and the disposable covers are easy to find, too. Our ped. uses it, too. I can sneak in and take a temp without even waking the kid up.

Forehead one is useless, and I was never sure my kid was holding the oral one under her tongue properly.

We to use the Braun. Used for family of four for over 15 years and is only now time to replace.

Find one that’s NOT made in China. Any brand is fine as long as it’s not made in China.

I cannot find a good thermometer. I’ve tried cheap Rite Aid armpit/oral and expensive temporal scan Exergan and Proven. All read all
Over the place. I can’t tell the diff between 101 and 103 or 102 and dangerously hi (104+) bc I run cold so everything feels hot to me. Help.
