They’ve always been there. I have always noticed them and I grew up overseas and watched it on semi-reliable cable.

I remember an interviewer asked this question to one of the female cast members, and the response was a sheepish, ‘it’s cold on set.’

Yeah, but that was before all bras were padded to prevent this. Seriously, I was a C cup in high school (so I did not want more padding) when Friends was new, and non-padded bras were of much thinner material then.

I watched when it was originally on and have recently started watching the re-runs. I must be really unobservant as I've never noticed this.

The bras were shit back then. I remember putting bandaids over my nipples often.

I remember thinking the same thing and joking about it with my mom, "headlights on!" and I stayed up to watch it on Thursday nights. I was 10 in 1994. It was definitely a thing back then too.

I was living in Boston with 4 roommates, paying $180/month in Boston! with my own room, we definitely did not have a tv that allowed for noticeable nipple definition, but we did have a contest to see who could bring home the weirdest porn movie that year. We watched Great Grandma Gets Her Cookies, and never mentioned that contest again. That's what I think about when I think about Friends.

Are you seriously asking if they added nipple outlines to reruns?

I watched Friends when it came out originally, (fyi for you youngsters, waiting each week for the next episode). At some point I stopped watching (maybe a little before Rachel gets pregnant...I can't remember)

Now, when watching with my DD on either the TV or her computer, I noticed even in the early episodes, you can see nipple outlines on esp. Rachel but I think maybe Monica too. I just do not remember this AT ALL; this is something I would have totally remembered as that would have been really racy or cutting edge back in 1994; on TV during "family" hours.

So my question is...is it because our TVs now have better definition? Or has it been added in after the fact? Did you remember noticing this when watching it way back in 1994 onwards?
