The issue with doing that though is you have no idea how much you are going to need for an IVF cycle.

I have this plan. It actually covers Gonal/Follistim and other fertility meds if it is a timed intercourse cycle. I wonder if you could get your clinic to sign you up for one of those with refills and then just decide sometime not to follow through and use them for IVF?

I am new to this and also got the idea of investigating IVF in Europe or Mexico from this board.
Lots of homework to do...

I did one cycle in Prague because I didn't want to wait 4 months until my insurance kicked it. If you have no issues, it might be a good option, but I am borderline DOR and I only got one embryo out of it, which ended in a BFN - they had a pretty basic protocol at the clinic I went to and even though I wasn't responding well, they didn't change anything up. That said, I am glad I did it because it gave some good data points to my current RE, and just had a retrieval with many more eggs. Just don't put your eggs in one basket re: doing it abroad (pun unintended!).

Someone started a thread about places to buy IVF meds OOP, a search should bring it up. There is a local pharmacy that reportedly takes back unused meds, so that may save you some money.

Yup they don't cover any of the injections ... do you live in MD by any chance? MD plans cover IVF.

They denied follistim, Menopur and lupron for me. Estradiol is covered. I ordered from MDR but may try to find a better price for lupron next time around elsewhere. Good luck and let me know what you end up doing.

Any other feds with this plan? Where did you get your meds and how much?
The health insurance doesn't cover IVF, but I am still trying to understand if my Rx coverage will help with drug costs.
A call to the insurace company today was not particularly helpful...
